It was a gorgeous sunny setting for this bottom of the table local derby. Isca started the match in great form and completely dominated first half play. Charlotte Howard, who was player of the match, had a great game, covering many miles and was rewarded with an unconventional goal scrambled over the line. Exe caught out the otherwise organised Isca defence and scored their first goal on the break, just before half time.
The second half saw a more determined Exe side and although Isca were awarded several short corners and played some great hockey, the out-numbered Isca defence could not hold off the Exe attack allowing them to take the lead.
The score did not reflect the possession held by Isca, however they were not quite able to finish the attacking play, which would have deservedly secured them the game. Sandra Crawford and Alice McNiele deserve a special mention as they stepped up and defended competently.
