With these teams only one point apart in the league, this weekend’s local derby was always going to be a great match. Isca put in a formidable team performance and played some lovely flowing hockey.
The home side took the lead through a wonderful strike by Louise Richardson, who has only recently taken on an attacking role on the pitch. Isca continued to apply pressure and created more chances. Despite Isca's dominance Exe managed to equalise during a brief period of attacking play. However, Isca kept their heads up and quickly put the home team ahead again with a lovely goal from Charlotte Horward, who has improved tremendously this season. Isca were set to score another goal before half time, which this time can from sweeper Sarah Greinig after unconventional set play from a short corner. After half time, Louise Richardson then scored her awesome second goal.
Isca midfield provided great support during attacking and defending periods of possession, and the much improved defence comfortably dealt with Exe's attacking play. A special mention must be made to Lola Tilson-Hawke who courageously and capably played in goal with no notice given. Lola was voted joint player of the match, along with defender Jane Carr.
