Isca Dragons 3rd team travelled to Taunton on a cold evening for a rearranged fixture and were very unlucky not to come away with a point. It was an even game, with long periods of end-to-end play, both teams passing the ball with skill and creating chances. However Taunton’s experience showed in front of goal where they were able to convert some of these chances into goals whereas the visitors could not. Isca Dragons started very strongly, exploiting a weakness on the Taunton right and forcing a couple of penalty corners, forcing the goal keeper into an excellent save. However Taunton soon found their feet and following a period of even play they were able to capitalise from an error in the defence and take the lead. Their second goal scored shortly afterwards was well worked with a good ball pulled back from the right to be easily slide passed the keeper. Alex Spencer in the Isca goal made some good saves and at the other end more short-corners went unconverted. The second half was end-to-end with good chances for both teams. Taunton Vale scored mid way through the half after a scramble in the D and despite some excellent break-aways Isca just could not find the goal. Tessa Dibble caused problems for the home defence and Nicky King was unlucky to see one shot slip agonisingly wide and to be defeated by another excellent save from the goal keeper. It was a good performance from the team and the scoreline was not a fair representation of the game. Lucy Slot played particularly well in mid-field and Liz Hodges was very strong at the back.
