Isca Dragons 2nd team secured their place in the South division for next season by earning three critical points in the penultimate match of this season. Third placed Caradon travelled up from Liskeard with the threat of making Isca's fate go down to the wire, but once again Isca performed very well against one of the top teams to prove why they deserve to be in this league.
Isca played with passion and the match was relatively scrappy and ill-disciplined. However, it wasn't until shortly before half time that Isca's determination was rewarded. Emmie Giles, who had a fantastic game, drove into the D and slipped the ball to Emma Kislingbury who scored her first goal of the season with a fine strike. Isca took the 1-0 lead into half time.
In the second half, Sue Norman extended Isca's lead with another goal from open play. In a diving move, Anne Blissett managed to pick out Alex Cross who scored Isca's third. Caradon got back into the match with a goal following a free hit outside the D, but Emmie was again involved as Ruth Weeks grabbed Isca's fourth goal. Caradon pulled a goal back right at the end to make the final score 4-2.
Verity Bennett, who did a great job keeping Caradon's most dangerous player at bay, and also cleared a shot off the line, was Isca's player of the match. No matter what happens in Isca's rearranged fixture against White Eagles on April 18, they are now guaranteed to finish above the bottom two places in the league table.
WELL DONE GIRLS!!!!!
