Isca began well with some good attacking play but they failed to convert this into goals. Penzance took the lead from a penalty corner but Isca equalised quickly from a penalty corner of their own through Rosie Bennett. A good attacking run by Emma Pemberton gave Beth Davies the opportunity to score a reverse stick goal, giving Isca a 2-1 lead at half time.
Isca came out strongly in the second half and looked like the favourites after scoring a third goal, with Beth Davies again on target. Then a shock decision by the umpire saw Cat Formby shown a yellow card and sent off for 10 minutes, during which time Penzance scored two goals to bring the score level at 3-3. When Cat Formby was allowed to return she floated the ball into attack. Alex Cross picked it up and crossed it for Steph Hollox to put Isca back into the lead. However, there followed a string of surprise penalty corners against Isca. Penzance managed to score twice more, including a goal in the final minute of the match, to controversially give Penzance all three points and send Isca on the long journey back to Exeter feeling frustrated.
