Isca Dragons started strongly in their match against local rivals Exe, winning possession in midfield and putting the Exe goalkeeper under pressure early. Exe defended well however and Isca were unable to capitalise on a series of shots. It was Exe who scored first, a good breakaway goal against the run of play. Despite a succession of short corners, Isca were still unable to find the back of the net and Exe punished them with a further two goals in the first half. Eventually however the Isca pressure paid off, as Lauren Hutchings scored from a penalty flick.
In the second half, Isca continued to dominate the midfield but despite numerous chances were still unable to score. Exe on the other hand made the most of their opportunities and put another one past the Isca keeper. Isca did manage a late consolation goal as Lauren Hutchings struck home from a penalty corner in the last play of the match. It was too little, too late however and left Isca rueing their missed opportunities.
