Isca Dragons U15 team travelled up to Clifton in the second round of the National Cup and put in an excellent team performance to emerge comprehensive winners. They opened the scoring early on after a nice passing move, something which was to become a feature of their game, was finished by Lorel Wallis for the first of her two goals. The second goal was scored by Lena Dashwood, continuing an excellent run of form over recent weeks. Isca Dragons pressed hard and dominated possession throughout the first half, passing the ball fluently and creating a host of chances. It was 4-0 at half time after a second goal for Lorel Wallis and a goal from captain Laura Glover. In the second half Clifton came out determined in defence and despite numerous further chances the visitors found it difficult to score, Grace Bruce breaking the deadlock with a fine strike from a penalty corner. Lena Dashwood then made it six tipping the ball over the line after an initial effort from Caragh Martineau was deflected. Clifton had the final say with a goal on the break after the Isca defence found themselves too far up the pitch but this was scant consolation and a convincing win for the Dragons. The team of both league players and less experienced youngsters showed considerably maturity in their passing and movement and can look forward to the local derby against Exe in the next round in February.
